Walborg Purse Hand Made in Belgium

Early Walborg Beaded Bag made in Belgium by hand. Spectacular floral design with heart shaped petals adorns this beautiful purse. The design is identical front and back, and the seams are fully beaded. The interior is fully lined and has no pockets, and the tag is completely intact. There is light staining along the top opening of the purse, and a few small spots throughout, both looks to be mainly from age. Bronze clasp works well, and is covered in patina. You can see the painstaking and high quality work on this purse which is a hallmark of the rare handmade Walborg’s from Belgium. Purse measures approximately 8 ½” x 5” and is in overall very good condition for its age.

The Walborg Co. was founded by Hilde Weinberg in New York City in the late 1940s. Mrs. Hilde Walborg designed handbags and accessories that even today, are highly coveted. However, her most prized creations were the beaded bags from Italy and Belgium. This rare early Walborg is from the 1950s while production was still in Belgium.
